Rat Packs Have It All: The Art Of Letting Go

Author: Maria Moratto

Do you save everything you come across thinking that you may need it later? Do you have to skip over old magazines and other documents while you walk on the floor of your office or your living room? Are your tables and counter tops overflowing with papers? Are you closets filled with clothes that are two sizes smaller for you?

Can you produce a 20 year-old piece of garment? Do you have practically empty bottles of shampoo, jars of creams, and tubes of toothpaste in your bathroom cabinets or in the shower? Do you have unmatched silverware, glasses, or plates? Do you have cans and brushes with dried paint in the garage? Do you leave your car in your driveway because it doesnt fit in the garage?

Of course, any affirmative answer to one or more of these questions means that you are a pack rat. Hoarders are nothing more than ordinary people who either lost the ability to organize their environment (or perhaps who never had this ability in the first place) or who have trouble trusting the future and hence feel insecure about it.

In any case, they save everything for an eventuality and because they cant discern the necessary from the unnecessary, they accumulate all they can. And just like everyone else, they like a clean and organized space. They are simply programmed in that way.

We are all somewhat like that; we vary in degrees. Some people need to clean the house, meaning un-clutter the place before someone can come and clean the house for them. Some are just absolutely overwhelmed and give up without even trying.

No matter what the case may be, based on the Law of Attraction, the truth is that they are not positively aligned with the Universe. And working on it wont do it either: the feeling of failure is too much to bear.

What interest us the most is the alignment part of the deal. Nothing will happen in perfect ways if your vibration is not aligned with that of the Universe. As you already know, procrastination will kick in. To align yourself for such daunt task you need to start appreciating what you have. Though saying things aloud is very good, I would recommend you write them down as well.

So heres what you do:

1. Appreciate things in our house: the old and the new ones alike. Make a huge list, if necessary.

2. Write and repeat the following affirmations: I am now just about ready to let go that which I do not need at present. As I make space, new and better things will come to me. Even though I am letting go of my old stuff, I am safe and well.

3. Visualize your rooms clean and organized. Go one by one in your mind and see them how you would like them to be: freshly painted, clean, smelling fresh; whatever you fancy.

4. Visualize those who are getting your old stuff and how they are happy that you can provide for them. They appreciate you. Appreciate them in return; after all, they are also doing you a great favor.

5. Visualize savoring the huge reward that you will give yourself when you have accomplished this marvelous task. Keep your word, even if it means putting on extra weigh because you chose to give yourself a huge Sunday or a box of bonbons.

Keep doing these steps until your wish for action is so great you need to start right away. You will do a beautiful job which will make you feel great. There is nothing better than feeling good.
